The Open Canoe Association of Great Britain

• The Open Canoe Association has been offering ad hoc coaching for a number of years, often free through our annual rally and other events, or for a highly competitive low fee.
• As this is one way to gain new members and encourage existing ones it is an area of our programme that we should develop further.
• This proposal is to create a long-term paddler development programme that meets the needs of the majority of our members. Such a programme would be unique to the Open Canoe Association and would help us to meet our goals of promoting safe open canoeing and provide a way to develop our own coaches and people who can run trips safely.
